For this I had one Quarter to work on the pieces and the only requirement was that it was either 20 pieces or something equivalent.
This series of works dealt with getting sucked into something you do not want to, and by the time you figure it out it is too late. I did 5 pieces at a larger scale (3ft x 9ft per piece) because I thought that would be equal to 20 pieces. I mixed the ink to make the different colors throughout the pieces and used various calligraphy pens in order to lay it down. I wanted the patterning in the piece to represent whatever it is that is threating to take hold as well as the change in color between works and the increase of patterning on the buildings. I wanted to do video game style architectonic drawings so the visuals are over-exaggerated versions of buildings you might find in a fantasy based game.
The first one is the starting point of this journey.
The second has the viewer falling a bit deeper in, starting to overlook some small cracks and details.
The third has them going even farther, quite a few things are easily overlooked. They are close to the point of no return if they do not take notice.
The fourth is the turning point. If they have not noticed by now they are blinded by it and unable to escape on their own anymore.
The fifth has them well and truly trapped now. They might understand a bit now on what has happened to them but it is too late to do anything about it.
